Project Description

Not All Websites Are Created Equal

UX/UI design is the science behind website design and functionality. The two are different aspects of a consumer’s experience with a website and have dramatic impact on a website’s effectiveness and company branding. Website visitors will often judge a company by their website. If a website doesn’t look good, is difficult to navigate and overall sloppy, they believe the company itself is the same and will quickly seek other options (ie: competitors).

UX (User Experience) refers to the overall experience a website visitor has. UX deals mostly with the technology that supports the website and the site’s overall functionality. Good UX ehances the customer’s overall satisfaction and loyalty with a bran because they find the website easy to use, very functional and overall pleasurable.

UX is made up of:

  • Interaction Design
  • Wireframes & Prototypes
  • Information Architecture
  • User Research
  • Scenarios

UI (User Interface), on the other hand, applies more to the design of the site, the colors, layout, branding, fonts, etc. All these combine to create an interface that is either visually pleasing or not. Color theory, button placement, menu navigation, call-t0-action button placement and more all fall in the UI bucket.

UI comprises of:

  • Visual Design
  • Colors
  • Graphic Design
  • Layouts
  • Typography
